Your mission
As a BMS Software Engineer (all genders), you will join the VÆRIDION R&D team within the Technology division. You will be responsible to lead the development of software required for our propulsion battery management and power distribution for VÆRIDION’s CS-23 all-electric aircraft. Your contributions will be instrumental in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of the High Voltage Electrical Power System at the core of VÆRIDION’s novel propulsion system.
Your Day-to-Day
* Lead the design, development, and implementation of embedded software for propulsion battery and power distribution from prototypes to future airworthy systems.
* Implement software development processes and toolchains in compliance with aviation standards and regulations.
* Define and document software requirements, specifications, and interfaces for the high voltage electrical power system.
* Collaborate closely with cell, electrical, and thermal engineers to develop robust and efficient algorithms for battery state estimation, cell balancing, fault detection, power control, and thermal management.
* Conduct thorough testing and validation of the software, including integration testing with other aircraft systems.
* Support system integration, iron bird/field testing, and certification efforts, providing expertise on software functionality and performance.
* Stay current with advancements in battery technology, software development methodologies, and aviation regulations.
Your profile
* Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with a focus on embedded systems and real-time applications.
* Proven track record of designing and implementing software for safety-critical systems, preferably in the aerospace or automotive industries.
* Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming languages and experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
* Experience with battery management systems, electric propulsion, power electronics, or related fields is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with aviation standards such as RTCA DO-178C and DO-254 is a plus.
* Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
* Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams.
* Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or other language would be beneficial.
